Hiring a wedding videographer can be hard. The quality of their films is very important when choosing someone to film your wedding. A portfolio of at least 3 films is necessary to have a look at. With photos, if your wedding photographer misses something they can always stage it later but with video, it is the opposite. You are capturing moments and words said only once and recreating them can feel out of place. So a wedding videographer with a good portfolio is a must and should include wedding trailers and wedding highlight films.
Storytelling
Your wedding videographer is there to film your story, not for their portfolio. You want your wedding video to look back on in 10 years and even with your children one day and be able to feel the nostalgia. Watching a wedding video and not being able to feel after watching a film is only a music video.
Depth
A wedding film has a multitude of layers to look at. Each couple on their wedding day has a different feel to it. The wedding film should be what it felt like not what it looked like. Did it capture the essence of the bride getting ready with her bridesmaids? Were there sufficient and good quality audio recorded from the vows, ceremony, and speeches to give you a film that draws you in? Music and video alone are not enough to call it a great wedding film.
Color
A Wedding videographer should pay attention to lighting and composition to give you the most flattering footage possible.
